How to Drive in India
Well there is a saying in India that " ye to mere baayen haath ka khel hai"
( It’s too easy even I can play it with my left hand), If you are coming from a country where cars have a left-hand drive, then you must know that India has a right hand and left side drive. Driving in India is not going to your left hand play initially. India has most over populated cities where people don't use road lanes they may cut in front of you without giving any warning. Animals, children and in night even drunk people may come in your way. While driving in any city you must be a little more careful.
And most important thing you should know that Insurance in India has various clauses in it, we suggest you to choose car insurance with breakdown cover included or you can have a 24 hour roadside assistance membership separately (as you have aaa roadside assistance in US or aa european breakdown cover in UK) from various roadside car assistance service providers. You can easily search online which is the best roadside assistance service as per your requirements. Make sure that it must have emergency breakdown assistance in rural areas too.
On national highways where roads are wide like 6 lanes even there too you should be extra alert while driving, many smaller vehicles can come on the wrong side of the road. Beware of the people who suddenly cross roads on running highways as they are walking in their home's garden. And if you are driving to a small town or a rural village, there will be narrow single roads on which both sides vehicles will be running in one and a half lane. Therefore, traffic coming in the other direction will have to travel on the same path as you, in that condition always keep your car LEFT. Some important points one must always has one’s mind if he or she is a frequent driver to a rural area or village that he/she must aware of nearby local car repair shops, car mechanics and flat tire help centre for some day to day minor car problems because in remote location, condition of roads are not good in India. Unfortunately if you meet with an accident and if the situation gets out of hand then call the cops immediately. For that u must note down the local police helpline number and your roadside assistance's contact number keep both the numbers with you always. Be careful be alert while driving in any part of the world, India is no exception. Happy Driving!
